Recognizing the Finest: Cop goes above, beyond to investigate 9/11 memorial vandalism

NYPD Officer Vincent Casaletto, a 123 Precinct neighborhood coodination officer, has been named Cop of the Month for his work tracking down the vandal of a memorial to the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, writes Maura Grunlund in the Staten Island Advance.

The vandalism happened in early December last year at a memorial in Tottenville.

Officer Casaletto spent hours with surveillance video tracking down the perpetrator, a teen he had arrested in the past. The vandal was charged with criminal mischief for damaging flags at the memorial at Main Street and Amboy Road.
