PS 29 students are making a difference, one good deed at a time

Linda Manfredi, principal of PS 29 on Staten Island, teaches the children in her school about the importance of acts of kindness to honor her brother, FDNY Firefighter Joseph Maffeo, who was killed in the line of duty in the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

The children of PS 29 run fundraisers for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Staten Island University Hospital, and assist charities such as the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, the Kids Helping Kids Toy Drive, and the Bread of Life Food Drive, reports Claire M. Regan for the Staten Island Advance.

The school’s chorus has performed for wounded soldiers at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Linda Manfredi also runs the Joseph Maffeo Foundation.
