Port Authority bomber was inspired by ISIS Christmas attacks, officials say

During morning rush hour today under Port Authority Bus Terminal, a suicide bomber partially detonated a pipe bomb he was wearing, injuring himself seriously and three innocent people slightly, report Sarah Maslin Nir, Jonah Engel Bromwich and William K. Rashbaum in the New York Times.

The suspect, Akayed Ullah, was reportedly inspired by ISIS calling for Christmas attacks and last year’s attacks on Christmas markets.

Port Authority Police officers subdued and arrested Ullah, who appears to have acted alone.
