Polishing their names as a way to honor the dead of 9/11

Thirty maintenance workers polish the bronze panels of the National September 11 Memorial every morning. Maria Alvarez of Newsday spoke to one of them, Jerry Mena.

“I see them cry and it makes me want to keep the names cleaner so that they know someone cares and has not forgotten,” said Mena.
