Obituary – Thelma Bowman, 87, former cook for World Trade Center restaurant

Thelma Bowman was born in Richland County in July 1928. She died at Palmetto Health Richland on July 18, 2015, at the age of 87.

Mrs. Bowman attended Booker T. Washington School before moving to New York where she resided for many years. While in New York, she worked at a restaurant in the World Trade Center as a cook.

After returning to South Carolina, she worked at and retired from the South Carolina Department of Mental Health Food Service Department.

Upon retirement, she became a foster grandparent serving at Arden Elementary School and Children’s Garden Day Care and Crisis Center.

She was formerly married to the late Ezell Bowman. Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her loving son, Miguel (Bessie) Bowman and her adopted daughters Gail Gordon Harrell, Renee Eubanks and Ruth Benlin.
