NYPD suspended sergeant after he sought treatment for 9/11-related issues

NYPD Sergeant Cyress Smith has been suspended from the force. He says the suspension is retaliation for speaking out about his alleged mistreatment by the department for seeking treatment for World Trade Center-related illnesses, report Tina Moore and Craig McCarthy for the NY Post.

Sgt. Smith claims that his seeking treatment for his cough, asthma and sleep apnea caused the NYPD to send him to the unpopular VIPER Unit, and now has caused his suspension.
