NYPD Deputy Chief James Molloy, 55, of the Emergency Services Unit, died yesterday after a long fight with World Trade Center-related brain cancer, report Rocco Parascandola and Graham Rayman of the New York Daily News.
Molloy worked at the recovery operation for six months following the terrorist attacks.
Though off-duty on September 11, 2001, Molloy rushed to the Trade Center and was in the last car to get through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel before it was shut down that day, according to his elder brother.
