NYC says retired firefighter’s cancers are caused by drinking and not 9/11, ignores court order to provide disability pension

Retired FDNY firefighter Joe Daly, 68, has site-related liver, colon, and bladder cancer. He has had a liver transplant. Doctors don’t know whether he can handle more chemotherapy. But a court order to give him a full disability pension is being fought by New York City. City lawyers are claiming that Daly’s cancers are linked to alcohol, reports Thomas Tracy for the New York Daily News. September 27, 2019

The FDNY referred all questions about Daly to NYC’s Law Department.
