NYC firefighter John Moschella ‘never gave up’ after 9/11-related cancer diagnosis

John Moschella, a 28-year FDNY veteran, died of World Trade Center-related colorectal cancer in December 2018 at the age of 52. At the end of his career, he served as captain of Engine 26.

The eldest of five, he was popular and kind-hearted. Thousands turned out for his funeral.

Some of his relatives and friends spoke with Anthony Rifilato of the Long Island Herald about his brave fight against cancer and his kindness and respect.
