Number of FDNY members lost to 9/11 related illnesses surpasses 300, ‘Unreal,’ firefighter’s daughter says of figure

On the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the FDNY lost 343 members. Now, more than 300 more have died of illnesses related to their work that day and during the aftermath, with three more firefighters dying this week, report Thomas Tracy and Elizabeth Keogh for the New York Daily News.

Battalion Chief Joseph McKie, 60, of Battalion 41; Firefighter William Hughes, and Firefighter Gregg Lawrence, 57, of Battalion 51, all died this week.

And the fund for WTC healthcare desperately needs billions more to cover the many who are suffering. And Congress once again is not acting.
