N.Y. Court reverses SWCB, awards benefits to widow of World Trade Center recovery worker

Death benefits have finally been awarded to the family of Patrick M. Murphy, a NY State court law enforcement officer who died of cancer caused by his work on the bucket brigade at the World Trade Center after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, reports Jim Sams for Claims Journal.com.

Veteran NYPD detective and Ground Zero hero Barbara Burnette dies from 9/11-related illness

Retired NYPD Detective Barbara Burnette, 58, died on December 30, 2021 of World Trade Center-related lung cancer, report Thomas Tracy and Larry McShane for the New York Daily News.

Detective Burnette spent 23 days at the recovery after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Lung disease forced her into early retirement in 2006 and her health deteriorated since that time.

Despite lung issues and other World Trade Center-related illnesses, Burnette was one of the many recovery workers with serious illnesses who fought for 9/11 healthcare funding in Washington.

Trial of the November 13 attacks: The Covid-19 interferes with the hearing, the debates suspended until January 11

The trial of the November 13, 2015 terrorist Salah Abdeslam and other defendants in Paris has been delayed as he has tested postive for Covid-19. Abdeslam is the only survivor of the terrorists from the Paris and Saint-Denis attacks, reports Helene Sergeant.

The trial began on September 8, 2021.
