NYC street renamed after hero NYPD detective and crusader for 9/11 survivors Barbara Taylor-Burnette

NYPD Detective Barbara Taylor-Burnette, 58, who lobbied Congress for funds for those affected by 9/11 illnesses while sick herself, has been honored with the naming of a Brooklyn street, reports Thomas Tracy in the New York Daily News.

The corner of Scholes and Humboldt Streets will now be called “Detective Barbara Taylor-Burnette Place.”

The detective died in December 2021 from World Trade Center-related lung cancer and interstitial lung disease.

10 Flight 93 family members to run NYC Marathon

This November 6, ten Flight 93 family members will run the New York City Marathon to benefit the Flight 93 National Memorial. They are — Jennifer Bucco, Debby Bullentini, Alexis Conlon, Lee Daignault, Gordon and Kathryn Felt, Jennifer Glick, Kiki Homer, Emily Shenkel, and Kathy West.

So far, they have raised almost $20,000 to support the Memorial, reports the Bedford Gazette.

Resiliency and patriotism in Middletown: 9/11 Survivor Tree is planted in Memorial Gardens

A seedling from the World Trade Center’s Survivor Tree, the pear tree that survived the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center, has been planted at the Middletown, NJ WTC Memorial Gardens.

Middletown NJ lost more people than any town except New York City in the 9/11 attacks.

Town residents Janice and Ken Tietjen, parents of PAPD Police Officer Kenneth Tietjen, who was killed responding to the attacks, attended the ceremony.
