‘He ran and he didn’t stop’ — Native Staten Islander set to run NYC Marathon in honor of her FDNY father Joseph Mascali who was killed on 9/11

Kate Mascali will run the NYC Marathon for the second time to honor her father, FF Joseph Mascali of Rescue 5, who was killed while responding to the World Trade Center terrorist attacks, writes Nick Regina of the Staten Island Advance. Her run will also raise funds for Tuesday’s Children.

“When I’m running and need an extra push I think about what my dad did that day. He went and he ran and he didn’t stop. Nothing stopped him. That’s what keeps me going.” she said.

Police horses named for NYPD cops Talty, Weaver, and Valentin killed on 9/11

Three new NYPD horses have been named for officers killed by the 9/11 terrorist attacks – ESU Officer Walter Weaver, NYPD Officer Paul Talty, and ESU Officer Santos Valentin, reports Robert Brodsky for NY Newsday.

Another horse was named for retired NYPD Officer Thomas Waterman, who died of World Trade Center-related cancer in 2019.

Opinion – Don’t leave them hanging: America must meet its obligation to those suffering 9/11 health ailments

The Editorial Board of the New York Daily News reminds politicians, that despite their promises, no action has been taken to add the desperately needed $3 billion to the World Trade Center Health Program.

When will politicians fund this crucially needed fund that thousands of people need?
