New cop Vigiano follows in footsteps of father, Det. Joseph Vigiano, fallen hero of 9/11

Joseph Vigiano, Jr., a US Marine, joined the NYPD on Thursday. Vigiano, 23, was 8 when his father, Detective Joseph Vigiano, and his uncle, Firefighter John Vigiano, Jr. were killed in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

‘ “I just want to say that it’s an honor to be here and become a part of the greatest police department in the world,” Vigiano said. “My father truly did love his job and if I could just experience a fraction of that, it’ll be all worth it,”’ reported Ryan Sit Thomas Tracy in the New York Daily News.
