Lindenhurst street renamed to honor NYPD detective James Schiavone, Jr.

The corner of Copiague Road and 49th Street in Lindenhurst has been renamed¬†James A. Schiavone, Jr. Memorial Way in honor of retired NYPD Detective James Schiavone, Jr., who died at the age of 49 in 2017 of World Trade Center-related colon cancer and respiratory disease, writes¬†NY Newsday‘s Jean-Paul Salamanca. Detective Schiavone grew up on 49th Street.

Detective Schiavone worked at the NYPD’s 105 Precinct and spent four months at the rescue and recovery operation after the terrorist attacks.
