Colonel James Pohl, the judge in the Guantanamo hearings, has halted the first tribunal session of the year because one of the defense attorneys, Cheryl Bormann, who broke her arm in the States over the weekend and is undergoing treatment in the US writes the Associated Press.
Bormann is the lead attorney for defendant Walid bin Attash, who is accused with four others of plotting the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Her presence at the hearing is required as she is the only “learned counsel” — attorney with death penalty experience among his lawyers.
The delay is one of many since the arraignment of the five men in May of 2012.
