Kearsarge and Arlington return to homeport

The U.S. Navy’s Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit will return from a seven-month deployment on Thursday, July 18, 2019. More than 4,500 Sailors and Marines serving in these units will be coming home, reports Lt. Cmdr. Richlyn Ivey, of Expeditionary Strike Group TWO Public Affairs.

The Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group consists of the USS Kearsarge; the amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington, the ship built to honor those killed in the Pentagon and American Airlines Flight 77 in the 9/11 terrorist attacks; the USS Fort McHenry; Fleet Surgical Team  2 and FST 8; Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 26; Tactical Air Control Squadron 21; components of Naval Beach Group 2; and the embarked staff of Amphibious Squadron 6.

USS Kearsarge and USS Arlington are homeported at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia.
