JFK Airport wins PAPD Madness basketball tourney title honoring P.O. Stephen Huczko and P.O. Thomas Gorman, PAPD

In the 8th annual PAPD Madness basketball tournament, honoring PAPD Officers P.O. Thomas Gorman and P.O. Stephen Huczko, the JFK Airport team won, reported the Staten Island Advance Sports Desk.

Fifteen teams from the Port Authority Police Department participated in the tournament.After losing the opening round, the JFK players, Sgt. Sean Dale, Officers Aaron Dellions, Jeff Leiter, Kevin Leiter, Pat Long, Sean Murray, Jesse Orro and retired Officer Duran Lawrence, won five games in a row before winning the championship over the Newark Airport team.

P.O. Stephen Huczko and P.O. Thomas Gorman, who were both killed while saving lives during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, were this year’s honorees. Sons of both the fallen officers are currently serving as Port Authority police officers.

Some of the money raised by the event went to the Special Olympics, a charity both Huczko and Gorman supported.
