Hundreds attend first wake for fallen NYPD Detective Brian Simonsen in Hampton Bays

Hundreds of mourners came to the first wake for NYPD Detective Brian Simonsen, who was killed in the line of duty last week, reports Stefanie Dazio for Newsday.

A number of those in attendance wore green ribbons to coordinate with the NYPD flag.

Detective Simonsen, 42, was shot in the chest and killed by friendly fire while responding to a robbery attempt last Tuesday in which two men brandished real-looking guns at police officers and pointed them at innocent bystanders.
