How the Boston Marathon is using security technology

Anita Balakrishnan of CNBC writes about the high-tech security systems used to keep runners and spectators safe at this year’s Boston Marathon

For three years, a system called Esri does real-time tracking of the race by showing real-time movement of runners, traffic and weather on a huge map of the entire course. As many as 200 people are monitoring conditions at all times, sharing data as needed with local and federal authorities.
