‘Ganderites’ visit 9/11 Memorial ahead of “Come from Away” Broadway debut

Beulah Cooper, Oz Fudge and other residents of Gander, Newfoundland paid their respects to the 2,973 people murdered in the 9/11 terrorist attacks reports Ariana Kelland of CBC News.

Thirty-eight planes were forced to land in Gander when US airspace closed because of the attacks. The roughly 6,000 residents of Gander opened their homes and their hearts to the stranded, frightened people; and lifelong friendships came of their generosity.

The “Ganderites” are in town to celebrate the opening of the Broadway musical Come from Away, that tells their story. They came to the memorial to remember.
