Franklin Alonzia James, former maître d’hôtel at the Windows on the World Restaurant at the World Trade Center, has died of a heart attack at the age of 43.
He was scheduled to work at 10:00am on September 11, 2001, and was on his way to work when terrorists attacked the buildings, killing many of his colleagues.
After the attacks, Mr. James moved back to his home town of Baltimore, where he became a hotel manager.
Colleague Shannon Gallagher told Jacques Kelly of the Baltimore Sun, “Franklin was an incredible professional. He was a sparkle of light. He was known within our industry and within our city. He would do anything for anyone. He was such a kindhearted individual.”
