Five seniors awarded final WTC Warwick Citizens Memorial Scholarships

The final WTC Warwick Citizens Memorial Annual Scholarships were given to five students on June 1, 2016 writes Roger Gavan in the Warwick Advertiser.

Citizens of Warwick, NY set up the WTC Warwick Citizens Memorial Committee immediately after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 to build a memorial in Warwick to honor the local people killed in the attacks.

After the memorial was completed, $19,000 of the funds raised remained. The committee created the WTC Warwick Citizens Memorial Annual Scholarships from these funds to help those students from the Warwick area who combined academic achievement with outstanding community service.

Those receiving the $500 awards were Lauren Mehling, Emily Eder, Jessica Buck, Amanda Buck and Bridget Horgan.

The final $400.00 has been given to Warwick Valley Gardeners to continue their annual maintenance of the September 11th monument.
