Ending a 23-day undertaking, the first bike ride on the completed September 11 National Memorial Trail will be made on Sunday, reports Mark Pesto of the Tribune-Democrat. The first riders will be some of the September 11 National Memorial Trail Alliance’s board of directors.
1,300 miles of bicycle trail now connects the three sites where terrorism struck on September 11, 2001 — the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the site of the former World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.
The riders will start at the Pentagon and ride to the Flight 93 National Memorial before continuing to New York.
