New York’s bravest on Monday hosted the first annual New York City Firefighter Stair Climb, raising money for two groups in need.
Firefighters put on all their gear, and then made their way up the 72 floors of 4 World Trade Center, at 150 Greenwich St. steps from the site of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
About 100 firefighters from around the world participated, in what was billed as “an opportunity to unite as one while competing with each other as we remember and do what is a long-standing tradition of the fire service… Helping others! “
The event raised money for two groups – Friends of Firefighters, which helps raise money for retired firefighters and their families, and Hope for the Warriors, which raises funds for post-9/11 service members.
