FDNY hero Joseph Stach Jr. of Valley Cottage remembered: Editorial

An editorial in the Journal News honors the life of  retired FDNY Lieutenant Joseph Stach, Jr., who died this week of World Trade Center-related pancreatic cancer at the age of 51, leaving his parents, sister, wife, and five children.

Lt. Stach joined the FDNY on October 21, 1990, and worked in Engine 48, Ladder 56 and Ladder 6 and was commended for bravery several times during his career. He spent months at the World Trade Center site in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
