FDNY firefighter, retired NYPD detective to bring vital care packages to Flint

Retired NYPD Detective Raymond Ramos and FDNY firefighter William West are delivering supplies to Flint, Michigan.

The two men raised $12,000 through social media and fundraisers. Ramos called contacts in Flint and identified the most vital items needed — water, hand sanitizer and wet wipes.

“We decided we should go over there and help those people. It’s a real neighborhood thing, a real hand-to-hand thing,”West was quoted by the NY Daily News reporter Joseph Stepansky.
