FDNY chief to run New York City Marathon in father’s honor

FDNY Battalion Chief Joe Downey will run his sixth marathon this weekend with two of his nieces, running in honor of his father, Deputy Chief Ray Downey, Sr., who was killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

The father and son ran a marathon, Joe’s first, together in 1981.

One day, Joe hopes that his daughter Carlee will run a marathon with him one day, reports Tim Fleischer of WABC.
