FDNY chief of department pays tribute to military ‘big brothers’ at War on Terrorism memorial

The FDNY’s chief of department, James Leonard, attended the dedication of Fort Benning’s memorial to the Global War on Terrorism this week, reports Chuck Williams of the Ledger-Enquirer.

The names of 6,915 U.S. service members who have died since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks appear on the granite memorial, which also has steel from the north tower of the World Trade Center.

“We have to honor the people who sacrificed everything,” said Leonard.
