Family mourns retired FDNY EMT Felipe Torre who died of 9/11-related cancer

Emergency Medical Technician Felipe Torre has died of World Trade Center-related gall bladder cancer at the age of 54, writes Graham Rayman for the New York Daily News.

His illness, diagnosed in August, came on suddenly.

Mr. Torre joined the FDNY in 1986 and retired just last year. All three of his brothers were also FDNY EMS workers.

His older brother Vinicio Torre told reporters, “He was such a hard worker. He loved the streets. He loved training. He was not only sympathetic with the victims, but he quickly developed a rapport with their families. He was a great caregiver who loved his job and left a last legacy.”
