Fallen police officers honored in Goshen

Two names have been added to the memorial outside the Orange County Courthouse as part of this year’s Law Enforcement Memorial Service. Added this year were the names of NYPD Detective Christopher Strucker and NYPD Detective Thomas Weiner. Both men died as a direct result of their service after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Both had site-related cancer, reports The Mid-Hudson News.

Det. Weiner’s son, Thomas Weiner III, told reporters, “It’s amazing that the FOP puts this together, as well as Orange County and the NYPD in this scenario. It’s incredible having friends and family show their support. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing my father was honored in such a way.

As is traditional, all the names of officers killed in the line of duty were read and a rose was placed at the foot of the monument in each officer’s honor.
