Jerry Dimitriou, who once was the chief administrator of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has been arrested on embezzlement charges, accused of stealing more than $500,000 from the archdiocese as it struggled to rebuild St. Nicholas Church destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Dimitriou is currently free on bail, reports the Associated Press.
In addition to stealing the money, he is accused of charging personal expenses to the archdiocese’s credit card.
