Community leaders bring fresh trees to Maspeth Memorial Square

Maspeth Memorial Square, at Grand Avenue and 69th Street, now has new trees courtesy of Communities of Maspeth and Elmhurst Together and city officials, reports Angélica Acevedo for Queens.com.

The square contains plaques and benches honoring those Maspeth firefighters and residents who were killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks as well as Maspeth veterans. Haz Mat 1 and Squad 288, Maspeth-based FDNY companies, lost 19 members in the attacks.
