The Tournament of Heroes at the College of Staten Island will be changing, due to the college moving from Division III to Division II in the NCAA.
The tournament will continue its 18-year tradition of honoring Terrance Aiken, Scott Davidson and Tom Hannafin, who were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, reports Carmine Angioli for the Staten Island Advance.
The tournament’s format will change, as Division II has different regulations. There will also be new tournament dates – likely moving from December to November.
“We’ll make it work because that’s really an important event for us. It’s important for us to honor those guys and their families.” athletic director Charles Gomes stated.
T.J. Tibbs, the CSI coach, said, “Everybody here understands the importance of the tournament.”
