City of Denton installs part of 9/11 Memorial Bell Tower

The city of Denton, Texas started the installation of their September 11th memorial this week, reports Lucinda Breeding in the Denton Record-Chronicle. The memorial will be a commemorative 30-foot bell tower will hold the city’s first fire bell from 1884, and a beam from the World Trade Center. The steel bell tower will mimic the design of the former World Trade Center.

The memorial will stand on the southwest corner of East Hickory Street and Bell Avenue in downtown Denton.

The city plans to complete the memorial tower in time for the 16th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Its dedication will be announced.
