Brooklyn street renamed for NYPD Officer Diane F. Halbran, killed by 9/11-related cancer

NYPD Officer Diane Halbran was killed by World Trade Center-related cancer in 2017 after working at the recovery operation after the 2001 terrorist attacks. A street in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn in front of her family home has been renamed for her.

“If you look around you today you can see a lot of retired people from the [70th Precinct] and from the Brooklyn South Task Force. And to get people to come back to an event when they’ve been retired for 20 years or longer just shows you how much Diane was loved by everybody that worked for her,” Chief of Special Operations Harry Wedin told the crowd attending, according to Tina Moore of the NY Post.
