Bikers reprise 9/11 remembrance ride

Motorcyclists rode from Shanksville, Pennsylvania to Arlington Virginia recently in an event called the Gathering, reported Randy Griffith in the Tribune-Democrat. The ride, formerly known as America’s 9/11 Ride, was much smaller than in former years after disagreements with  authorities in Virginia and Maryland, where the large number of riders caused traffic problems.

This year’s ride consisted of roughly 50 bikes. Former years’ rides had as many as 12,000 motorcycles.

The ride raises money for charitable causes.
