As cops search for 9/11 plaques and thieves who pried them from memorial, here’s how you can help

Three bronze plaques depicting the timeline of the events of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were pried off the Monmouth County 9/11 Memorial at Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook earlier this week, writes Jenna Wise for NJ Advance Media for NJ.com.

As police continue their search for the thieves, the County is working to replace the plaques. A spokesperson for the Park System has told reporters that they have received donation offers from several people.

It is hoped that the plaques will be replaced within 8 to 10 weeks.

Monmouth County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. Please email www.monmouthcountycrimestoppers.com; call 732-291-1212 or 1-800-671-4400; or text “MONMOUTH” plus your tip to 27463 if you have information about the thieves.
