Annual NYS Police Officers’ Memorial Remembrance Ceremony recognizes fallen officers, including deaths from site-related illness

The names of 26 police officers from New York State who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty were added to the black granite memorial at the Empire State Plaza in Albany on May 10 during NY’s annual Police Officers’ Memorial Remembrance Ceremony.

Four New York State law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty in 2015. Two of them, Detective Randolph A. Holder and Detective Brian R. Moore, were NYPD officers who were shot in the line of duty.

Sixteen names of NYPD officers and three names of other state police officers who died of World Trade Center-related illnesses were also added to the memorial, bringing the total so far to 104.
