More than a thousand United States Marines travelling aboard the USS Arlington recently ate the Greek town of Alexandroupolis out of eggs, steak, and other food.
They filled restaurants, emptied shelves of shops and caused such a crowd at the town’s tattoo parlour that no large tattoos were allowed — only small ones.
“Yesterday, 1,500 people had breakfast in Alexandroupolis and ate eggs, sausages and bacon. Yesterday, 6,000-7,000 eggs were needed. In other words, we don’t have eggs.”
Local residents spoke of the busy days and good business coming from the Marines, reported the Greek City Times.
