A girl was shot in 1997. She just met the officer who saved her.

NYPD Officer Tom Wilson saved Lucin Rosario, a 5-year-old girl who was shot in the head in 1997. He thought of her many times over the years, especially during his struggle with World Trade Center-related oral cancer.

Reporter Edgar Sandoval of the New York Times helped them reunite. Officer Wilson asked that their reunion happen on September 11th of this year, saying, “Today I need a good day.”

The two shared a tearful reunion and vowed to stay in touch.
