Portraits of women heroes standing tall at Stafford Town Hall

A paramedic turned artist is painting a 50-painting series of portraits of women who served on 9/11 or during the recovery efforts. Some of her portrait subjects are EMT Yemel  Merino, PAPD Captain Kathy Mazza, and NYPD Officer Moira Smith, the three female first responders killed during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Kate Bergen is a paramedic with EMS Squad 38 in Stafford Township, where her paintings of D.C. Fire and EMS Fire Inspector-Technician and paramedic Tanya Justin, retired NYPD Detective Christine Reyes, and PAPD Sergeant Sue Keane are currently on display, reports Victoria Ford for ArtBeat.
