Officers rally around former El Centro Police Chief (and former NYPD Detective) Joseph Hannigan after devastating diagnosis

Joseph Hannigan, 60, was an NYPD Detective and responded to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He moved to Texas and became chief of police of El Centro College, where training methods he taught saved police lives when a gunman ambushed officers on July 7, 2016.

Now Joseph Hannigan is in hospice care from World Trade Center-related pancreatic cancer.

A number of officers who worked with him spoke to Maria Guerrero of NBC 5 Dallas/Fort Worth.
