The Pennsylvania House of Representatives will consider a new bill that would require state schools to hold a moment of silence every September 11 and every December 7, writes Jan Murphy of PennLive.
The bill also would require schools to have materials available to teach students about the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and the Pearl Harbor attack of 1941.
The author of the bill, Doug Mastriano, asked last year to participate in a school’s 9/11 commemoration, and was told there was no such event.
“I was thinking at the time just so few years later, we’ve seen it forgotten,” he said.
Mastriano teamed with Pat Stefano, whose district includes Shanksville where United Flight 93 crashed, to introduce the bill.
