Comedian Jon Stewart made a speech to the poorly-attended House Judiciary Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties on behalf of the sick rescue and recovery workers today, telling lawmakers they should be ashamed not to fund the bill that would help the dying people they swore to “never forget”. “I can’t help what think what an incredible metaphor this room is… a filled room of 9/11 first responders and … a nearly empty Congress. Sick and dying, they brought themselves down here to speak to no one… shameful,” Stewart told the 8 politicians who bothered to attend the meeting.
The Never Forget the Heroes Act of 2019 would reauthorize the Victim Compensation Fund, which will be out of money by next year, reported Emily Tillett and Grace Segers of CBS News.
