UNC Charlotte shooter was disarmed by retired NYPD detective

Retired NYPD ESU Detective Rich Gundacker, who now works for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte police, was the person who disarmed the man who killed two students and injured four people at the school last week.

Gundacker attributed his actions to his ESU training. He spent 20 years in the NYPD, retiring in 2015.

He found the killer too late to rescue students Ellis Parler and Riley Howell, who were killed in the shooting, reports Stephanie Pagones in the NY Post.
