Justices: Court wrong to meddle with September 11th widow’s funds

Connecticut Supreme Court has ended a decade-long dispute by ruling this week that a CT probate court wrongly took control of September 11th victim compensation funds belonging to the Hynes family, preventing Carolyne Hynes from spending the money for her daughter’s current expenses. The lower court ordered Mrs. Hynes to put the money in an account to be left for the girl when she was an adult.

Kenneth Feinberg, who was in charge of distributing the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, has expressed agreement with the Supreme Court’s decision, writes Dave Collins for the Hartford Courant.
