Retired Suffolk County police sergeant Dennis Reichardt has died of site-related pancreatic cancer at the age of 64, reports Ellen Yan for NY Newsday.
He had a 29 year-career in the Suffolk County PD and spent several days at the World Trade Center site and several months at Fresh Kills landfill, searching through debris.
His wake and funeral will be private. Donations in Dennis’ name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
