Long-closed passageway from original WTC to reopen on Monday

A passageway and set of doors from the original concourse of the World Trade Center that has long been blocked from public view will reopen on December 19, 2016 reported Talia Tirella of PIX 11.

The relics are located in a far corner of the PATH station and looks the way it did in the 1970s. Some of the original marble floor, a few steps with handrails and doors can again be seen. The passageway leads to the A, C, E, 2 and 3 lines. One of the doors bears markings left by recovery workers on September 13, 2001, showing that the area had been searched for survivors.

The passageway is protected by the National Historic Preservation Act.
