The Jeffrey Coombs Memorial Foundation will benefit from this year’s New York City Marathon, even though the charity is based in Abingdon, Massachusetts.
David Summergrad, principal at Abingdon’s Woodsdale Elementary School, ran in honor of the Jeffrey Coombs Memorial Foundation this year, reports Kaila Braley in Wicked Local. He met Christie Coombs, Jeff Coombs’ widow, when she spoke about the attacks at his school.
Jeffrey Coombs was a passenger aboard American Airlines Flight 11, the first plane terrorists flew into the World Trade Center. He was 42, a husband and father of three, a computer expert and an avid hiker and lover of the outdoors. The foundation in his name assists families who have had a death or illness in the family and provides scholarships to Abington High School students.
